Review: Onell Design Glyos Gobon Renegade Hunter

I'm kind of amazed that the Gobon Renegade Hunter exists as a production figure. Custom Corps figures were shown in 2010 - it seemed almost unthinkable that one would actually get mass-produced for all of us, and here we are. For "existing figure with new parts," this upgraded Gobon is a pretty good deal. I have had this mold in other colors for a while and reissuing silver totally makes sense. (I would also like to see more clear ones.) The construction is the same as it ever was, with removable feet, hands, arms, legs, a 3-piece body, and 2 heads... plus a bonus head this time. You have five faces from which to choose with this release, meaning if you only buy one Gobon mold it may as well be this one.

Celebrate 12 Years of Glyos on Sunday with a New Drop

A new wave! Ruthless Restorations over at Onell Design confirms a new batch of Gobons (and pals) will hit Sunday, July 28, at 9:30 PM.

A load of hints are in the comments, including a nod to a figure I revealed in San Diego last week. I think. I could be wrong.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Gendrone Rebellion Gobon Action Figure

December of 2013 was a flat-out bonkers month for new toys - Onell Design, ToyFinity, the Four Horsemen, Ni Stuff, and dang near every indie toymaker seemed to have something new on deck and it's really quite spectacular just how many of them are existing items in new colors. This includes the Gendrone Rebellion Gobon, a figure whose name suggests a pretty nifty storyline which exists pretty much solely in toy auteur Matt Doughty's head. We're treated to peeks at this story, but odds are we'll never really know the full story behind many of these figures and their various factions.

Glyos Onell Design December 1 2013 Drop Menu

No new molds today, but there's a swell Syclodoc that sold out pretty much immediately.  The surprises were a pair of orange figures - Noboto and Crayboth - and a generally swell selection of parts and pieces, including another fine Sarvos.

There are more indie releases coming - the Four Horsemen will have new Power Soliders on December 2, and more Mordles are expected as well.  Stay tuned!

Ecroyex Drop Glyos Details Revealed

A positively preposterously gorgeous drop is on deck for this weekend!   Onell Design posted the latest Mission Details, with the Ecroyex Commander Cynorico Sarvos (pictured) being one of several stunning new releases on deck.

An equally beautiful Syclodoc will be joining more Crayboth, an Armorvor, and pretty much all of the major molds that aren't vinyl.  It's going to be an expensive release, but at least it's some of the most gorgeous stuff you've ever dropped a few sawbucks on, right?

An as-of-yet unknown $8 mystery figure is also up for grabs on Sunday, December 1, at 9:30 PM EST.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Mordereus Gobon Action Figure

The Mordereus Gobon is very similar in color to a couple of figures sold late in 2012, and the color proved popular enough to bring back for this figure, a matching Noboto, and even the 481 Universe Outlander figure. Could Callgrim be far behind? Or Mordles? I hope not. There haven't been many clear Gobon figures since I got into Glyos, and this is the first one I was able to get. I'm happy I did, because the clear plastic allows the figure to amp up its design with an added extra eye in the body - it gives the figure a uniquely different feel without adding significantly to the work involved.

Glyos Onell Design September 8 2013 Drop Menu

It's up! It seems like most (if not all) items from the Enigma Source release from Onell Design are live now and you can click here to see what's left.

I would expect the pink Morderius Gobon will go soon, as will the swell Syclodoc - I spent more than is reasonable, as this was a pretty fantastic batch.  I'm a little surprised the new guys didn't blow out, but that's good news for you as you can actually get these great new figures.

And the Armorvor. Don't miss the Armorvor.

Glyos Enigma Source Mission Deets

 Along with some so-vivid-I-can't-believe-it's-real imagery, Onell Design posted the list of Enigma Source mission details.  The drop has a lot of pink, a lot of purple, and some mystery figures.  It's also worth noting that the Ivorinium Noboto will be back (as promised) along with matching Hub sets, Crayboths, and Glyans.  3 additional Noboto flavors will be available, as will a pink and purple Armorvor, a new Syclodoc for the first time in months, and yet another stunning Sarvos figure. 

It's a solid mix - if you're new to this line, many of the molds available from Onell Design will be available in this release.   There will also be a clear pink Gobon, which is notable as there hasn't been a clear Gobon for years and this gives the robotic tubby guy additional personality with a visible second head in his belly.  (Of course I'm buying one and so should you.)

Review: Onell Design Glyos MVR Standard Gobon Action Figure

Believe it or not, the yellow MVR Standard Gobon is the first "standard" Gobon ever, even though flavors of him have been around for several years in silver, blue, gold, black, and numerous other colors. This is based on some of the earlier sketches of the character, and the reverse figure (white with yellow arms and legs) was produced at the same time as part of a six figure (technically seven) release in July of 2013. Standard Gobon was the first to sell through, and it's worth noting that a Gobon is usually around $10 and this one was a bargain basement $8.00.

Glyos Onell Design July 29 2013 Drop Menu

New! The latest menu is up for the perusing - six figures went up about five hours ago, and at press time all six are still available.  Three Nobotos, two Gobons, and a Pheyden were produced making this drop unusual in that it's the first in nearly a year with neither an Armorvor or Crayboth.

Glyos Noboto Anniversary Wave Live

Standard Noboto, Gobon on Sunday

They're coming! Standard Noboto and Standard Gobon have been many years in the making, and they're part of a 6-figure drop on Sunday at 9:30 PM Eastern.  Artwork for the Standard Gobon was shown years ago.

...I hope to get both. I'm pretty pumped to see all these "Standard" releases, they look great!

Review: Onell Design Glyos Gendrone Legion Gobon Action Figure

I really don't know why the Gendrone Legion Gobon didn't sell out immediately. It took a while. I had no idea this color scheme was coming, but I had incorporated it into the Glyos News Dump header [archival ] because I thought it looked cool. Who knew that I would have a figure of it in a few months?
 
There have been nearly 20 of these guys, not including a few limited editions, and historically they seem to be, sadly, slower sellers. The portly robot is probably one of the best bangs-for-the-buck in Glyos in terms of mass and options as you get a reversible head, a hidden second head, plus a body which can be flipped and made to look like a comical, portly fellow or a more aggressive bot of death.

Onell Design Teases Next Week's Glyos Drop

While there has been speculation we might see a new mold before the year is up - which hasn't been confirmed nor denied that I saw, but Matt has said that there's a red Armodoc with something different beyond color! Hmmm!  Well, I'm excited.
