Healey Made Raiders - Naughty & Nice Edition

Action Force/G.I. Joe themed Naughty & Nice Raider figures are up at Healey Made's shop now.  While not Star Wars per se, the figures are said to have been sculpted by an old-timer in the toy business and they sure do look like a mishmash of Tarkin/Boba Fett/Cobra Commander.  I have two of the earlier releases and they're fantastic - the bundle is $50 if it's still in stock. Click here to check.

Review: Cappy Space Legion Lead Crayboth

A new troop! The Legion Lead Crayboth could have been a D-Con 2020 debut in an alternate timeline where COVID-19 didn't wipe out nearly every fan gathering in the USA from March onward. Last year, we got the nifty R-Toolio and C-Ps&Qs. This year, it would've been the Legion and legion Lead, both excellent figures nodding to the classic Star Wars Stormtooper.

RIP Ralph Niese

Known to this community for his gorgeous artwork coinciding with Glyos action figure drops, we were just informed that Ralph Niese passed away this past Monday via his Instagram.   If you collect these figures you've seen his artwork, which is often displayed proudly on the Onell Design Blog.

While I never met him, I've always been impressed with his amazing artwork.  Our hearts go out to him, his fiance, and his family.

Review: Onell Design Delphi Ryllcedia

It is not the slightest bit hyperbolic to call the the Delphi Ryllcedia a long-awaited release - which is amazing, when you think about it. Glyos, Pheyden, and friends are relatively young in the world of figure collecting but through the power of innovative storytelling, they created demand for a product that wouldn't exist for over a decade. Take a look at the Onell Design blog to see how far back it goes - and there's even more buried in their Passcode animation. The creatures' backstory is, to say the least, kind of vague - but they're ancient beings that had something to do with the origin of the Armorvor, or something. Custom "Armored Delphi" figures appeared in a Custom Corps drop in 2010, and have remained a hot-ticket item demanded by fans for mass production. This figure is based very much on those early releases, with pale grey skin and a pink accent plus lots of ridges and a pink swoosh. In other words, this is pretty much exactly what you have been waiting for all these years.

Healey Made Lion Raider - In Stock, $30

New from Healey Made, the 3 3/4-inch scale Lion Raider!  It's $30 and has more color than I think I've seen on any non-custom Glyos action figure.  Armed with a pistol and an alternate head, you probably know what to expect from this one - but now it looks like Voltron, so it's cooler.  Click here to check availability.

Revenge of the Bluestar Outer Space Men!

As the fates foretold, Wave 2 of the Bluestar Outer Space Men are live now.  (It is uncertain if they are in-stock or a pre-order.)   Like the last batch they're $25.00 each plus shipping, and come with a wide array of accessories.

The glow-in-the-dark blue plastic is incredibly bright when properly charged, and the wave one figures turned out really well.   If you are so inclined, you'll probably love them.  The Glyos system works great for these 3 3/4-inch scale figures, plus things that glow in the dark are generally always nice.

Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Xodiac Action Figure

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200827-osm-gitd-2019-blue-xodiac.shtml
Who loves more of the same, but different? Bluestar Xodiac brings you the same basic color layout of the Cosmic Radiation edition, but now with blue glow plastic and light blue painted highlights - and two helmets. You get a bit more here than a basic Xodiac, but it also costs more than double what the figure did in its debut 10 years ago. Is it worth it? If you like blue glow, yes, yes it is.

Glyos Fans - The Outer Space Men Bluestar Round 2 Preview

https://twitter.com/Outer_Space_Men/status/1297702526935064577/photo/1The Outer Space Men relaunch kicked off 10 years ago as a sort of perfect mashup of Glyos construction and 1970s Kenner articulation and personality.  And it's still going!  On Twitter, The Outer Space Men crew previewed the next batch of Bluestar figures.  These blue glow-in-the-dark figures are updates of the 2011 crew - Commander Comet, Mystron, Electron+, and Alpha 7.  This is the first we've seen them in-the-glowing plastic.

Onell Design Drop Sunday 8/23

https://onelldesign.blogspot.com/search/label/delphi
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Now it's 10:30 PM Eastern.
UPDATE: The drop has been delayed until 10:00 PM Eastern due to power outages.
If you can believe it - and I don't know that I do - Onell Design has a drop on Sunday.  Well, that part I can believe, but what's amazing is the teaser video shows a Delphi in it.

For those of you who are newish to Glyos, you may not know who or what these guys are.  The figures debuted over 10 years ago, and to date only exist as custom figures.  You can see some here. The characters show up in the games and animated videos as some all-knowing special beings, pulling the strings and observing Pheyden and the Glyosverse.   It's also one of a short list of characters fans have been asking for, and asking for a decade.  This is a big deal.

Set your alarms for Sunday at 9:30 PM Eastern.

Review: Onell Design Lost Sincrodrone Eta

http://16bit.com/fotd/200813-glyos-lost-sincrodrone-eta.shtmlWhen I first got into Glyos about 10 years ago, they were pretty cheap. Fully painted figures came boxed - boxed! - for under $10, with panel lines and a little paper slip inside. Rising material and labor costs have put a stop to that, but once in a while you can still got some cheap figures like the Lost Sincrodrone Eta. This bright pink figure is basically just some existing parts in a unique configuration. It was worth the seven bucks just to have a friendly robot fire hydrant around.

Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Metamorpho Action Figure

http://16bit.com/fotd/200723-osm-gitd-2019-blue-metamorpho.shtmlAs shared experiences go, toys are great. Unfortunately The Outer Space Men are one not shared by my peers - they're before my time, but I love the designs as sci-fi space race-era toys go ever since I saw them in Action Figure Digest, which was a real magazine a million years ago. For this reason, Bluestar Metamorpho is a fun, weird figure that stands on his own. [ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Healey Made Menu - July 17, 2020

https://healeymade.com/collections/live-shop
While mostly sold out, Healey Made's drop Friday was pretty great!  Venge-74 and Droll-40 were great nods to comic books - perfect for what would've been the lead-up to SDCC - and the vinyl Bellum (Dark/Father) is appealing to another fan group.  Click here to see what sold out.

Get Spaced Out Thursday - New Glyos Incoming

http://spaced-out-design.blogspot.com/2020/07/resurrection.html
We live in an era where good news is a scarcity, and just about anything can change your day. Maybe the baby hippo at the zoo had gas and made a face, or perhaps someone famous you don't like stubbed their toe.  Thankfully today's fortune requires no misery or suffering, because Spaced Out Design has new figures Thursday at 9:00 PM Eastern.  The rocky, mossy preview above is all we have so far, but it's something, and I'll take it.  Click here to read more on their blog.

Review: Healey Made Raider (Hunter) Action Figure

http://16bit.com/fotd/200702-healey-hunter-raider.shtml
The Healey Made account announced they were doing a "420" launch and didn't tease what it might be. I figured something green - but they already did a clear green figure. I did not at all expect the Raider (Hunter) Action Figure, which takes design cues from Kenner's original 1979 Boba Fett action figure and does a pretty good job evoking the classic, unusual, off-model colors of the figure. It's not a perfect match, but it's pretty good.

Review: Onell Design Armorvor Cerrek Commando Gorellux

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200625-glyos-armorvor-gorellux.shtml
In the first eight years of the Armorvor's life, it experienced multiple releases with the Wolf head and the Dinosaur head. Dozens. Painfully large quantities. But Armorvor Cerrek Commando Gorellux comes out now as the whopping fifth new Armorvor head in a year! We've had a fish, a dragon, a cougar, and a cyborg wolf - and now we can go ape.

Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Astro-Nautilus Action Figure

http://16bit.com/fotd/200526-osm-gitd-2019-blue-astro-nautilus.shtmlYou know the drill - The Outer Space Men are awesome. These 3 3/4-inch action figures are magical and got wildly expensive to make in recent years, so the Bluestar Astro-Nautilus is $25 today when you used to be able to get a fully-painted and carded set of four figures for about $40. That's inflation for you. This mold is one of the ones they used in 2010, and it's a gorgeous design - is it worth $25 though? ...well, I bought one.

Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Inferno Action Figure

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200423-osm-gitd-2019-blue-inferno.shtml
Since the 2010 relaunch The Outer Space Men has been pretty stop and go - periods of inactivity are followed by huge bursts of releases, and Bluestar Inferno kicked off the impressive-but-pricey blue glow series late last year. As you no doubt know, the blue glow plastic used by this series (and all Glyos or Onell Design figures) tends to shine incredibly brightly. A short exposure to UV or sunlight means hours of blue glow, be it dim or brightly depending on when you examine it. I've seen these figures glow after eight hours... just not incredibly brightly when hour eight rolls around.

Healey Made Nods a Classic in Raider (Hunter) Drop

https://healeymade.com/collections/live-shop
You missed it!  Healeymade's Raider (Hunter) went up at 4:20 PM Eastern and sold out in short order.  The retro-style figure positively nails the looks of toys from the 1970s and 1980s, with deco based on one in particular.      It was $25.

Oddly, the Commander figure was out of stock at the time the new figure went live - and now is  back in stock.  If you've never picked up this particular mold, it's recommended.  Check here for availability.

Battle Tribes and Healey Made Drops Incoming

New!   Healey Made and Battle Tribes shops will be getting updated with new toys this week.

The Healey Made Instagram confirmed a drop would be on Monday, April 20 but not what or when.  His previous figure is the Commander Raider, and if it's still in stock Monday I may order one.  I have the Shadow Raider and it's a gem.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_JOwexgx-M/

Far less of a mystery is the Chuck Norris and Ninja-influenced Battle Tribes drop.   3 new figures with tons of gear and heads go up at 6:00 PM Pacific on 4/22.  Some older figures are still available.

Review: Toy Pizza Meteor II Action Figure

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200416-toy-pizza-meteor-ii.shtml
Ever since I discovered Glyos I was hoping there would be a mass-produced Metroid-referencing figure like this Meteor II Action Figure. I nagged a few people about it, but Toy Pizza was not one I pestered - that I recall. I was pretty surprised when this figure came to pass, and it's one of those things I never thought would ultimately materialize. It's great - but it's expensive. A standard Rift Killer 3 3/4-inch action figure sells for about $18, with Axis Joints at about $3 and Phase Arms at about $2. It's expensive - and I somehow missed the pre-order window. Unlike other figures from its release drop, this one stuck around for a while. I don't think that's remotely a knock on quality, but $30 is really expensive for what you get. If it weren't a "bucket list" figure, I'd probably have a hard time buying it myself. But it is, and I love it.

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200414-glyos-cyma-queen-kirallius.shtml
This CyMa Queen Kirallius sold out in short order, and with good cause. The Cyber Mama mold from Toy Pizza was still a new release when this figure came out, and it did a good job taking existing parts and really building it out. The figure includes a ton of pieces from multiple figures to bash together one of the very best crossover releases we've ever seen out of Onell Design.[ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Review: Onell Design Armorvor Athrodak Parasitic Clone

http://www.16bit.com/fotd/200407-glyos-armorvor-arthrodak-clone.shtmlGlyos figures usually turn out as shiny, cool, distinctive little things. The Armorvor Athrodak Parasitic Clone comes in a hitherto-unseen clear flesh color, which looked really cool in the pictures and is even more impressive in person. I'm sorry, I meant to say "unsettling." Capturing the toothy, ghoulish, dead-eyed creatures of the deep in plastic has been tough - the Chap Mei Animal Planet ones looked cute, and every figure or model I see tends to be perfectly nice looking.
