Review: Onell Design Glyos Armorvor Standard Liocarrus Action Figure

I jumped on the Armorvor Standard Liocarrus. For those just joining us, his body has been used for dozens of figures. The lion head is new. I have a resin casting of the prototype head from ages ago, but they made a lot of changes to it - like cleaning up the hair, and adding an eye patch. It's a surprisingly dynamic rendition of a Glyos head, looking a lot like a piece of comic art come to life. I really like it. The body has been the same one for ages, but there's not much reason to change it up at this point. [ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Review: Glyos Neo Granthan Nemica Enforcer

I had the Neo Granthan Nemica Enforcer for over 10 years, and didn't write the review or shoot the figures until recently. It's a good figure, riffing on classic trooper figures from science fiction and of course, Battle Beasts. The bulky armored 2 3/4-inch figure is incredibly wide, making use of the traditional helmeted Armorvor head as well as the then-newish Neo Granthan head. It looks a little like a dinosaur.

Review: Outer Space Men Bluestar Astrodite Action Figure

I found Bluestar Astrodite to be a great thing and something from the Ironic Punishment division of toy making. I love glow toys, I love The Outer Space Men, and a few orders in 2023 proved to be too much of a good thing. She sat in a box in my photo room for a few years despite being every bit as good as her peers. The $15 figure was marked down to $10 - unusual, as many figures go up in price from this maker as they sell through - so I assume she wasn't a hit. That's not her fault, they did a nice job. Review: Onell Design Glyos Versirran Crayboth

I started taking pictures of the unnamed freebie Versirran Crayboth back in 2012, with another batch in 2023, but never wrote the review. As far as I can tell there's no Glyos Wiki page for the "stowaways," the free figures Matt Doughty sometimes includes in shipments at no cost to remind you that you should always order something. Back in 2012, the Crayboth had been around for roughly four year and this guy was the 17th little critter in the line - so I had the wild idea that I would be all-in on Crays and complete the set. A few years later, I realized that was unlikely - and now we're up to hundreds of the little guys. They're all great, and with so many crossovers and freebies and promo figures that very few people are going to have them all. Cappy Space has a checklist which was last updated around 2023 and it is worth noting that a lot of these guys a) look similar and b) have no names elsewhere. If It weren't for documentation like this, I assume there would be no record anywhere of just how many of these guys were made over the years.

Review: The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Bluestar Cyclops Action Figure

I bought a lot of figures I was missing a couple of years ago and have been slowly opening them. I assume it's unlikely we'll get many more of these guys, so Bluestar Cyclops is something to be savored... and also taken for granted. There are just so many of them that it was hard to really take them all in, even though they're amazing little things on their own. The entire Bluestar series is 19 figures so far, most of which were at least $20 initially. It adds up, and may be the biggest collection of blue glow-in-the-dark action figures you can buy. Review: Toy Pizza Glow Vector Jump (Armor Kit)

I ordered the Glow Vector Jump (Armor Kit) back in 2017 not realizing it wasn't a full figure - oopsies. I would later place the armor on a green Lime Material Boy that I got with the Mikros Regen Capsule [FOTD #2,114] earlier that year. It's a good fit, don't you think? If you didn't have a spare Knight of the Slice in glow handy, you can put this glow armor on pretty much any of those basic figure bodies. [ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Review: Onell Design Glyos Infinite Anti-Pheyden Scaphoidian

probably won't keep buying all of these guys in every color (especially with two figures being stow-awayed as pieces) but I couldn't say no to Infinite Anti-Pheyden Scaphoidian. (Or the Origin one.) Why? The mold's great, and the colors reminded me of one of few toys I had as a kid, sold, and regret - the Construx purple alien figure. The Sarvos head reminds me a lot of that helmet.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Pheyden Prime

Given time and inflation, Onell Design manages to keep most of its stuff surprisingly affordable. Pheyden Prime was $12 in 2023, only $2 more than a similar 2019 Pheyden Regeneration figure. And for that $2, you got stuff - this figure is effectively similar with slightly different paint applications, and a vest, and some pins, and a scarf, and a blaster hand. That's $2 well spent.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Pheyden Regeneration

I've bought lots of Glyos figures and some of them get reviewed immediately and some like Pheyden Regeneration sadly take while. Since they tend to sell out immediately I'm not necessarily in a huge rush - it's not like you can go buy it from the original source. Or eBay, much of the time. Produced in the low hundreds, these guys have been in production - in different colors - since 2007. The paint masks change, the colors change, and the plastic has been gradually tweaked until it had just the right amount of "give" so you can easily swap parts between releases.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Infinite Anti-Pheyden Phrangoss

I missed out on the clear pink guy - all I got were legs so far - but I did get Infinite Anti-Pheyden Phrangoss. It's really nice. Sarvos was $18, Pheyden was $20, and Phrangoss was $22 - each figure has escalating paint applications. It's also worth noting each figure has unique paint masks with some shared elements. Silver Sarvos has the fewest, with all-red eyes and some other red markings. Blue Pheyden has more, with painted soles, fingers, thighs, belt, chest, and other odds and ends. Purplish Anti-Pheyden Phrangoss adds pink shoulders and knees (but not the same spots as Sarvos) as well as boot jets and lights on his back, just to name a few. Assuming Onell Design is marking these up at a consistent rate, it's really interesting to see what two dollars worth of paint and labor gets you. Does it look better? No question. Is it worth the extra cash? I'd say so.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Infinite Sarvos Buildborn

Sharing all the same parts as his two wave mates, Infinite Sarvos Buildborn is the silver redeco that matches surprisingly well with over a decade's worth of other silver guys. If you collect Glyos, a big part of the appeal is the scale and the compatibility. Well, we've lost a little scale in recent years, but you can easily swap parts between figures of all sizes and wind up with some wild results. Moreso if you like to paint. Sarvos has been around in some form or another as a mass produced figure since 2008, usually but not always with a torso distinct from Pheyden and often sharing the same limbs. This Infinite version shares everything with him - but you've got option pieces to make him distinctive. The "official build" from the product shot uses the Sarvos head while making use of the belt and swapping out the left hand for the phase cannon.

Review: The GodBeast Glyos Void Sectavorian

A nifty new mold - which you've seen in a few colors. The first version of this figure was the Void Sectavorian, cast in translucent black glitter plastic with red eyes. I like it, and I'll probably buy one or two more depending on which colors we get. I really like this one, especially if you plop a silver head on it. It looks pretty amazing, reminding fans of the 1980s toy world just how many bug toys we got. Sectaurs, Buzz-Off, Baxter Stockman, Insecticons, and many others probably had a little influence on this guy. Heck, his alternate head reminds me a bit of Kamen Rider too. There's a lot to play with here.

Review: The GodBeast Glyos Void Mothman Monstor

A different version of the character was sold in resin quite a few times, but the Void Mothman Monstor is its PVC debut. And brother, is it a deal. It's a big, beefy figure with three alternate heads. The spider head has four sides of faces - sure, there are only two of them, but it's pretty amazing all the same. You get wings, you get open and closed claw hands, andit matches numerous similar figures from over the years like the matching Void Zulloid and the Vector Jump Nobody Knight from way back in 2017. The Standard version (brown) would debut just a week later at LegionsCon, but this guy is particularly striking because the black plastic and red eyes make it look like many illustrations of the cryptozoological being Mothman.

Review: ToyFinity Manglors Manglomortis Action Figure

There have been a few very big Glyos figures, but Toyfinity's Manglomortis is massive and ready to vex any Bone Age cave men you may have around. He's not quite as tall as a couple of the Four Horsemen aliens, but Manglomortis is a tall 4 3/4-inches at the top of his helmet. Some parts were used with the Mangloskull figures, but if you missed those he's pretty much an entirely new massive figure that pushes my buttons in the best ways. It's like something I should have had in the 1980s, if heavy figures of Glyos joints were likely to be found. [ READ THE FULL REVIEW ]

Review: Healey Made Assassin (GID Blue) Action Figure

I had this Assassin (GID Blue) sitting on my photo shelf, unopened, since some point in 2022 or 2023. I just plum forgot to open it - it's a great figure and a nifty gimmick. The Glyos glow blue plastic needs a lot of help charging, but a brief stint in the Sun will keep it glowing so brightly that you might see a dim blue hours later.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Infinite Pheyden Standard

I've cut back slightly on some toy purchases but couldn't say no to the Infinite Pheyden Standard. For years there's been buzz of the Four Horsemen doing some Pheyden sculpting in the background, and with the Infinite Legions Pheyden and Phanost that I can regret not pre-ordering, they did work on these simpler, smaller guys based on the same basic concept. Fancy armor Pheyden with longer limbs and a smaller head just plain works, and comparing the two figures they're very similar in terms of what goes where. The Four Horsemen version has intense articulation and paint, with all sorts of painted details. Onell Design made a figure that's more pragmatic, with coloring no doubt influenced by the current international manufacturing situation. It's not unlike what we see out of the major franchise brands - different interpretations for different price points for different audiences. This is the entry-level limited edition indie figure. Review: Healey Made X-Raider

In indie toy spaces, Generation X kids and baby Millennials may remember figures like the original Fisher-Price Adventure People X-Ray Man Action Figure [FOTD #2,542]. I've seen many resin toy mimic its vibes, which applied an inverse color scheme and a robot tampo to an existing diver figure. Healey Made took their venerable bounty hunter character and thusly created X-Raider. It's a great riff on a riff on a riff.

Review: The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Bluestar Gemini Action Figure

The Outer Space Men is one of my favorite batches of toy designs ever, and I've still got tons of unreviewed figures. Granted, most of them are glow green, glow blue, or plain white... which is why I've been dragging my feet. I've got some really nice fully painted ones, and can't complain about a single one of them as a stand-alone thing. If they were doing new fully-colored figures, I'd be shouting their praises from the hills. And new characters? You couldn't shut me up if we got The Man from the Sun or The Woman from Ceres. But I've got eight two-headed guys on my shelves now.  Check out Bluestar Gemini!

Review: Onell Design Glyos Wolfboto Noboto

There was a great monster Onell Design drop in 2018 where I got Wolfboto Noboto and several other truly wonderful figures, many of which sadly sat in bags next to my desk for years because of the constant influx of new stuff. I could do months of just Onell Design toys, there are so many good ones and so many other things constantly flying across my desk that for some reason or another, just get kicked back when I should probably just make it a point to change "Figure of the Day" to "First Impressions with Adam" and we just look at everything that passes through here. That's not a terrible idea, come to think of it.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Zulloid Neo Nebula

Onell Design Glyos Zulloid Neo Nebula Action FigureI missed the first few colorways, but I did get the Zulloid Neo Nebula. The 3 3/4-inch alien has three reversible heads, one of which with articulated eye stalks, in addition to alternate hands and an arm blaster beam. You could buy a few of these and have some very differently configured figures, especially if you add other interchangeable heads. This is what the Glyos system is good for - unlimited choice.
