Review: Onell Design Glyos Neo Granthan Pyrotellica Action Figure

Onell Design Glyos Neo Granthan Pyrotellica Action FigureClear with more paint! The Neo Granthan Pyrotellica is an orange release that looks like it probably owes a little bit - OK, a lot - to Micronauts. The previous Armorvor toys have rarely been clear, and those that have only had a tiny bit of paint. This is the first one to have painted faces on clear plastic, making it unique for a variety of reasons beyond merely being a new color with a newish head sculpt. Seemingly fans didn't jump on this one, because it didn't sell out quickly and actually stuck around along with his brothers beyond the point that the orders actually began to show up. It's still available as of my writing this, which is odd for a generally popular mold.

Review: Plastic Imagination Rise of the Beasts Cerula - Green Scorpion with Grey Paint

Plastic Imagination Rise of the Beasts Cerula - Green Scorpion with Grey Paint Action FiguresHe's green! The Glyos-powered Rise of the Beasts line is pretty fantastic, although it's hard to view them purely as wholly their own thing. I keep expecting to see squat little guys, but Cerula - Green Scorpion with Grey Paint is more of what a small figure of the 1990s might look like, rather than the 1980s. The overly-muscular creature is fundamentally the same as Cahriv except for the coloration.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Neo Granthan Cliffstalker Action Figure

Onell Design Glyos Neo Granthan Cliffstalker Action FigureThe name is evocative! The Neo Granthan Cliffstalker is a brown, chocolate-flavored take on the Battle Beasts-inspired Glyos figure. With an orange skin and a red Black Core, this feels like many of the popular 1980s robotic toys out of Tomy. While not a perfect match, it immediately reminded me of Robostrux mixed with a little bit of the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing. He is orange with blue eyes, after all.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Skeleden Standard Action Figure

Onell Design Glyos Skeleden Standard Action FigureIn a rare instance of a figure showing up in an Onell Design game months before the toy release, the Skeleden Standard figure was a delightful surprise. We knew at least one version was coming as part of the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter line - one with purple elements, it turns out - but last month Onell dropped two and a half flavors of this new mold. A wonderful blue version was joined by a clear armor kit you can use to upgrade your existing figures for five bucks... I ended up getting them all, because I can. The standard one is, far and away, my favorite.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Standard Ecroyex Glyan Action Figure

Onell Design Glyos Standard Ecroyex Glyan Action FigureFor a while I made it a point to buy one of every figure with a Glyaxia symbol, like good old Standard Ecroyex Glyan here. And then we had drops that would cost a couple of hundred bucks to assemble, at which point I thought "Well, that was fun." There are still plenty of great figures with awesome design flourishes, and the little quasi-Atari faction symbol on his shoulder really is quite cool. While nobody probably needs every last flavor of this one, I will say I'm glad I bought it - even if I sat on it for about a year before opening him.

Review: Banimon Red Army T-011 Bunkerbuster Tank Vehicle

Banimon Red Army T-011 Bunkerbuster Tank VehicleI missed the first drop for the yellow one, so I was happy to see that the swell Red Army T-011 Bunkerbuster Tank didn't sell out immediately. I'm sure the price had something to do with it - $30 is on the high end of these smaller vinyl items, even if it has a lot of paint, stickers, and options. It's also the first toy I've bought in ages that actually was designed to make good use of all those extra Glyos heads you've been storing in boxes for the last few years. It's quite versatile and as it can fit most Glyos figures, heads, or even 3 3/4-inch action figures, it's easily the best Glyos-compatible vehicle to date. If you're a toy collector and you also like Glyos, this (or a subsequent recolor) is an essential purchase.
