Review: Onell Design Glyan Glyorian

One of the fun things about Onell Design's Glyos toys is how it pays tribute to its inspirations - and that which followed it. The Glyan Glyorian winks at the offspring of one of its inspirations, slathering it in paint and ensuring that you're in on the joke. This figure takes the basic bones of an indie figure from over 10 years ago, adds a cape and some paint, throws in a few extra parts and pieces, and voila - a tribute to the most popular sci-fi figure of 2019 and 2020... and probably also 2021.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Searsden

While a little darker than my original Kenner Sears Snaggletooth figures, the 2 3/4-inch Searsden looks like a distant cousin. The skin is lighter, the boots are silver, there's some red, the silver buckle is there on the belt, it has what it needs to have.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Walruden

Tributes to the Kenner Star Wars cantina continues with the 2 3/4-inch Walruden. Before he was known as Ponda Baba or "Buttface," Walrus Man was a green-skinned swim-finned alien Kenner sold that didn't quite match the movie version. With no available reference, toy designers made it look cool based on the available reference material, and got it wrong, and Lucasfilm still approved it. 41 years later, Onell Design pays tribute to it with this remarkable redeco of their own character Pheyden in Walrus Man colors.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Greeden Action Figure

After a wonderful run of Adventure People tributes, Onell Design turns to a galaxy far, far away with Greeden. Based on a very specific style of figure from Kenner, their 1979 off-model Cantina aliens were official products with the kind of authenticity usually reserved for bootlegs. Thanks to a lack of good scrap and apparently lax approvals, we got a figure with a good approximation of the mask - but a costume that seems out of a daily sci-fi newspaper strip. Never being one to miss a good tribute, Onell Design ran with Greedo's look and applied it to Pheyden.
