Review: Onell Design Glyos Traveler Xycoss Clone

Onell Design Glyos Traveler Xycoss Clone Action FigureSurprises are fun, and the Traveler Xycoss Clone was surprising design taking cues from a few of the Adventure People-themed figures from 2017. The sub-line was a treat, and this clear red figure has silver markings while the Rayexx and Pheytron figures sported other colors. The Traveler Xycoss Clone isn't as ornate, but it's plenty cool.

Review: Onell Design Glyos Fireyden

Onell Design Glyos Fireyden Action FigureIn a year of several tribites to the classic Adventure People action figures, Fireyden was a mystery figure this past November. Onell Design ramped up the paint, and generally speaking their experiments are worthwhile. I was wondering if it was going to be more than a Rayexx head on a Clawden body, and indeed it was.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno Action FigureI'd say "this is a good one," but you know they're all good ones. The Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Inferno the first time the mold has been sold as a glowing figure - that's good! What stinks is that for whatever reason, there are no new glowing red Glyos figures being made. If they jumped on it a few years earlier we'd have flaming, glowing red men from Mercury, but it was not meant to be. At least we got a glowing green one in a surprisingly vast collection of figures.

Cosmic Radiation Inferno - New Outer Space Men This Week!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BaCa5wuFG1Z/?taken-by=the_outer_space_menMeet Inferno! If you love Cosmic Radiation The Outer Space Men figures - and you know I do! - three more are coming.  The first of which is Inferno, dropping Wednesday, October 11, at 9:00 PM Eastern.  (Or earlier a bit, if history has been any indication.

In addition to Inferno, packaged samples of Inferno and Xodiac were posted to the official Outer Space Men Instagram.   For those keeping track at home, this means Metamorpho, Astrodite, Jack Asteroid, Terra Firma, Ohpromatem, Horroscope are the only figures not yet sold in the Cosmic Radiation style.  According to Gary Schaeffer, a very limited number of carded figures - including a Signed Inferno to celebrate Mel Birnkrant's 80th Birthday - will be going up soon as well.

Review: Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 Action Figure

The Outer Space Men, LLC Outer Space Men Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 Action FigureThat's the stuff. In popular culture, The Outer Space Men got this guy right the first time. He's a little green man, after all. He's also been blue, bluegreen, a creamy color, and in vague Mickey Mouse-esque cosplay. Cosmic Radiation Alpha 7 brings one of the more famous toy martians not named Marvin and brings him back to the best hue of the atomic age - atomic glow green. If ever there was a more appropriate combination, I'd like to see it. (Actually, they're all pretty appropriate as glowing figures given the fears of atomic energy in sci-fi schlock of the era.)

Review: Bit Figs Mega Bit Spectre Pheyden

Bit Figs Mega Bit Spectre Pheyden Action Figure SetEver since the line was introduced, I was looking forward to the Bit Figs Mega Bit Spectre Pheyden Set. I wasn't sure if it would be painted or not, so seeing them do both versions was a nice surprise. Naturally, I bought both - it's a big pixel figure with soft, glowing plastic. It's also a small figure with glowing plastic. It's two figures! The little one is the same size as the Bit Figs you'll find in vending machines (and should buy), while the bigger one is about the same size as a regular Pheyden figure - about 2 3/4-inches tall.

Review: Bit Figs Matryx Pheyden

Bit Figs Matryx Pheyden Action FigureBoy howdy am I glad I got a Bit Figs Matryx Pheyden. This is the kind of thing you know and love if you're just the right age - the Onell Design stalwart has been made in the colors of the original 1989 GameBoy, which has been recolored many times, in many formats. It's a good fit - and it has an insane multi-color tampo on the chest that shows just how fancy these figures can be at a reasonable price. It's basically the same old Pheyden with new deco. This is good enough for me.

Review: Onell Design Outer Space Men Neo Astrovos

Onell Design Glyos Neo Astrovos Action FigureAnother success in the mad science that is Adventure People cloning, Neo Astrovos was a mystery figure in June for just $12.00. Surprisingly, the Fisher-Price homage wasn't added to the Glyos database like many other mystery figures. Why? I have no idea.

New Outer Space Men - Meet Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity

http://melbirnkrant.com/moon/index.html
I missed this - Mel Birnkrant slipped in two new sketchbook pages for upcoming Cosmic Radiation glow-in-the-dark humans from the moon with Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity (new heads and glow bodies for Terra Firma and Jack Asteroid, respectively.)

Luna Eclipse and Zero Gravity both come from the dark side of the moon, and feature glowing suits and glowing facial elements.  Luna's hair partially glows, and so does Zero's teeth - designer Mel Birnkrant wrote: "I visualized a big glow in the dark grin, which is something that, in my very limited involvement with action figures, I have never seen."

No release date was given, but these are being tooled along with the long-awaited Astrodite - which we first saw around February 2013.   A four or five year wait is nothing - about half of the Glyos The Outer Space Men figures we've received thus far were based on designs from the 1960s and didn't get produced until the 2010s.   Five years is nothing.
