Since
its introduction a few years ago, this particular figure has been
released in dozens of colors and tends to sell out quickly. Oddly the Gendrone Ultra Corps Mimic Armorvor
stuck around for weeks - I'm not sure why, the silver plastic looks
pretty fantastic - and for all I know it'd take to dye well, if you're
into that sort of thing. It's the same 18-piece figure as always,
which means that not only can you swap parts with other releases, but
you're also potentially satisfied with the size of your Armorvor
collection at this point as we round 20 flavors.
Another one! Thankfully ToyFinity has kept the big Mordle releases tight, so figures like this Mordles Quinhozs Vinyl Figure
aren't part of an endless, tiresome parade of expensive vinyl -
instead, we've had 3 so far and each one is pretty cool
for different reasons. The line kicked off with red, switched to
glow in the dark, and now we're going for a Jaws-inspired grey
figure with cold, black eyes of death and a little white patch on his
chin/belly/whatever it is. I'm quite fond of the design, the original
red figure has remained on my desk since I got him.
Time can do a lot to temper my enthusiasm for a toy, and I'm glad to say Maigus
aged well. The endless parade of redeco opportunities in the Glyos
system means that you can burn out on a figure quickly - some stand out
as being a little more different, and this is one of them. The metallic
mix of silver and blue plastic is a great start, but painting elements
green, yellow, and red? That's a solid idea. It looks like someone
melted a box of crayons on a figure, producing something wonderful.
It's impossible to look at the Ecroyex Mimic Armorvor
and not love it. Depending on how old you are, you'll see any of a
number of inspirations. Perhaps the blue with red will remind you of
some of the "stealth" Iron Man action figures. Perhaps the silver head
and blue body will remind you of Micronauts, with the name coming off as
a garbled up variation on "Acroyear."
I got the Sharkorvor
head a while back, and let me tell you it's pretty sweet. Like many
of the other harder hand-molded heads, TheGodBeast cast these in a
variety of colors so you could paint them and use them as you see fit -
mine came in clear red, but these were often treated more as a "kit"
than a part unto themselves. Many Glyos collectors will customize or
modify parts, but I see this as a sin so I left it as it came to me -
and I think I'm going to leave it that way.
